Membership of the u3a is open to all in their third age, which is defined not by a particular age but by a period of life in which full-time employment has ceased. This is mainly so that you have time to participate in the many activities the u3a offers, but the extent of your participation is totally up to you.
The membership fee is £15 per annum starting from 1 January (this is discounted to £6 from 1 July). Members of another u3a will receive a discount of £4, bringing the total payable to £11. Please indicate which u3a you want to join on the application form. The quarterly u3a magazine Third Age Matters (TAM) is available on payment of a small fee of £4, bringing the total payable to £19.
The application form Membership form 2026 should be printed, completed and brought to the Monthly Meeting, or handed to any member of the Committee as listed here: Committee, or emailed to the Database Manager. Copies of the form are also available at the Meeting. Alternatively, you can join online using our u3a Beacon system (see link at bottom of page).
There is a Monthly Meeting on the third Wednesday of each month (except August), starting at 2pm in the Methodist Centre, where you can join up. You are welcome to come as a visitor (cost £2).
Payment may be made by cash, cheque, BACS, or via Beacon. Please make your cheque payable to u3a Bingham (NOT Bingham u3a) with your name printed on the reverse and either bring it to one of the Monthly Meetings or hand to a member of the Committee. You can also pay by BACS – details on the Membership form. After payment is made you will be issued with a welcome pack and a membership card for the current year.

Your personal details will be held on a secure database and will be used solely for the purposes of administration and communication of u3a matters. Your information will be stored and used in accordance with Bingham u3a Privacy Policy and other documentation as shown here Bingham u3a Documents.
Bingham u3a Beacon Membership System
We have implemented a system for joining, paying and renewing fees online using the u3a Beacon Membership System. More information about Beacon is here: Beacon home page .
New members may click the following link to access Bingham u3a Beacon and join online: Bingham u3a New Members portal.
You will see this notice – ‘This page is for new membership applications only. Existing members should not renew here but should go to the Members Portal. To join again after a lapse of more than a year, please contact the membership secretary.’ Click ‘OK’. Select the type of membership you want at the top of the page and fill in your details.
Press ‘Make Payment’ button to make your payment. You may pay by credit or debit card using the Bingham u3a PayPal account – you do not need a PayPal account – Checkout and Continue as a Guest. Alternatively, you can use your own PayPal account if you have one.
You will receive two confirmation emails: a confirmation of payment from PayPal and a confirmation from Beacon. This will have your membership card attached.
Once this process is complete, you can access the Beacon u3a Members Portal at: Beacon u3a Members Portal. If you have not created a password for your membership account, use the ‘Register for a membership account’ link to set one up.
