How to join us

There is no lower age limit and certainly no upper age limit to joining the u3a. You should be in the 'Third Age' of life and possibly retired or not in full-time work - this is mainly so that you have time to participate in the many activities the u3a offers but the extent of your participation is totally up to you.

Our membership secretary, Karen Peters, will be pleased to give you more information about joining the Bingham u3a. The annual membership fee, due in January each year, is just £12 (including £3.50 fee to National u3a). Members joining during the year have a reduced subscription (pro rata).

There is an application form at the bottom of this page. Please make your cheque payable to Bingham u3a with your name printed on the reverse and either bring it to one of the monthly meetings or send it to Karen Peters, 48 Nottingham Road, Bingham, NG13 8AT. After payment is made you will be issued with a welcome pack and a membership card for the current year. The card should be taken along to group meetings to show you are a fully paid up member.

Membership includes:

  • Bingham u3a Newsletter published monthly

  • The quarterly u3a magazine: 'Age Matters'

  • The 'Sources' magazine published three times a year

  • Admittance to the Monthly Meeting

  • Access to over 40 Interest Groups

  • Support from our New Member Liaison, Beryl Kemp

You are also eligible to receive the Third Age Trust Publications: Third Age Matters - 5 issues per year and Sources issued 3 times per year. Please contact Karen Peters on 01949 875406 or email to find out more.

There is a Monthly meeting on the third Wednesday of each month (except August) starting at 2pm, held in the New Methodist Centre, where you can join up. You are welcome to come once as a visitor (charge £1).

You can also 'dip a toe in the waters' by coming to the Coffee Mornings held from 10.30 -12 midday on the second Monday of the month in the Wetherspoon's Buttercross Pub or by attending the monthly meetings. We would love to see you at our meetings and welcome any enquiries to see whether you would like to join our friendly, active and supportive organisation.

If you would like some more information, please contact Karen or any of the committee members. Their contact details are listed on the Committee page.
